High-alloy of duplex stainless steel is commonly referred to as Super Duplex. They have a PREn greater than or equal to 40 and most grades contain 25% or more of chromium. It is made up of mostly chromium, molybdenum, nickel and nitrogen but different grades can also have tungsten and copper in trace amounts.
This material not only offers excellent mechanical properties, high strength but also highly corrosion resistant, weldability and workability. It offers low rate of thermal expansion and can be used in applications where the temperature is high. In addition, it offers a combination of properties of both austenitic and ferritic stainless steel and higher strength than both the materials.
